So this holiday season, I ask “how can you allow yourself to truly receive?” Do you need time alone to cry (without even knowing why)? Let it be. Do you need a massage? Book one for yourself! Do you need to go buy yourself flowers and enjoy them immensely? Do it! Do you need to put on a movie for your kids with a bowl of snacks and go read a magazine? Enjoy!
When I pulled my sad, tired, shamefilled self to class I started to see the light again and faster than ever before this time. And I knew, this was it. I was done putting all of myself into things that I didn’t really care about anymore.

My meditation and mindfulness practice began out of necessity. My monkey mind was, and still tends to be, drawn all over the place. Ideas, emotions, and memories flood it each moment and sometimes, especially when I’m not being mindful, I find myself in uncomfortable situations because of my reactions and responses.
